On our way to Guatemala

Well here is the first of a few posts that I will be making about our trip to Guatemala. Our computer guy came and couldn't fix the problem here at the house so he took it to his shop and I went and picked it up late this afternoon. Problem was our wireless box was dying. Now it seems to be fixed and I am happy. :) Here we are with all of our bags at the Fairbanks Airport. I'm sure Andrew was wishing I was helping instead of taking pictures. :)
Heidi showing her excitement on the plane. :)

In the Seattle Airport

In L.A. - the first place we stopped. They had "lost" one of our bags already. But it was on the next plane so we killed some time waiting for the luggage by walking several "miles" trying to find the terminal where we would be leaving to go to Guatemala. The kids were awed by all the machine guns at the international terminal. It was like stepping into another world.

We watched this little hummingbird for several minutes while waiting for our bag.

We had a 14 hr layover in L.A. so we rented a car and took the kids to see the Pacific. We also rode around Malibu and saw some gorgeous homes.

Oops, Drew got wet. Actually I think they all did on that wave.

We were getting pretty tired by this time. Here we are waiting in the airport for our second night of flying.
While we were here a guy from the snack shop we were sitting in got all excited and ran out into the airport corridor and shook this weird guy's hand. He was dressed in tights and some longish shirt and had some horrendous earrings on and maybe even some makeup. So we asked the guy who it was and he told us it was the drummer for the band "Guns and Roses". I actually have heard of the band but I don't think I've ever heard any of their songs... I don't think I care about that either. :) Anyway, he was out in the corridor talking to the famous snowboarder, Shawn White. I hadn't heard Shawn's name before but I had seen his picture so that was kind of an interesting tidbit. Only in L.A.
