My old hometown

Here is a little taste of the traffic. This was probably a six lane road (three on each side) and it was being made into four or five lanes on one side. Everybody just squeezed together until they got in the lane they needed to be in. Never mind that you were stopped behind them. And the motorcycles would go right in between the vehicles just like the one in the picture. They were everywhere and bicycles too, as well as pedestrians. You never knew where to look next. We just had to pray that everyone else was watching too. :) Here are mom and dad and Beth and I in front of the home we used to live in. The pink walls were not there when we lived there, they were cement block with decorative "cut outs", if you can call them that. The "gate" looks much the same although it has been painted white and has windows covering it. The windows were just openings at the time. The street is gated and guarded now. So many memories. Here's the whole kit and caboodle. Here is the statue of Tecun Uman. I believe he was a great Mayan warrior. The 7-up sign is new since I was there in Guatemala City. I don't remember the "grassy knoll" behind it either.
