Bye, Bye girlies!! :(

Watch out world... here come my little girls!! See our new airport in the background? Well, you can see only part of it, but those of you who haven't flown in or out of here in a while wouldn't even recognize it. We are really getting fancy... but I digress, my girls are at the airport waiting to get on a big plane to take them to Virginia and then on to Appalachian Youth Camp with U. Lincoln and A. Lyn and cousins Keith and Kelsea. I want to just hold on to them tight and not let go but it's time to let them try their wings, I guess. They are both excited and nervous, so please pray for them. (and their mommy) Why is it that we feel like if they are with us they will be safer? I don't know, but I do know that empty nest is coming up and I had better learn to let them be all that God wants them to be. I love you girls and I hope you have lots of fun!!

I loved AYC...growing up in PA, I went every year clear through college. We were back a few years ago with a youth group and enjoyed it just as much as adults (with toddlers in tow)! I will pray they have a great week socially, spiritually and emotionally.

And I must say your daughter is definitely wearing the right shirt...we are big DP fans too!!

Dad's take on the whole anchelatta....Being 500 mi. west of my two way cool daughters and not being there to see them off was awful! I'm quite sure I worried more than their mom did and probably more than I should have! I asked Kate if she was going to AYC to learn more about Jesus or more about boy's? She smiled a little self-consiciously and said Daaad... maybe I should have been a little more coy! Anyway now that we're at this junction in our life's I've told them for years that before they get too interested in Mr. Right... I have a checklist that they better see if he measures up to.First of all he better love Jesus w/ all his heart! Second- they better take special note as to how the boy treats his mama. Third- He better be a GOOD worker and know the feeling of a job well done!Fourth-I have to take him on a sheep hunting trip and he BETTER be able to keep up w/ this old man!'Know how to build a fire in a cold Alaskan fall rain, knock a moose or caribou over w/ a .338 from 375yds. and love the feeling of that PA-18-160 coming off the end of a 400' gravel bar somewhere north of the 63rd parallel!Maybe, it might still be a few more yrs....I do hope you girls are the perfect lady's that your good-lookin' mother was when I found(or wait, did she find me)her 23yrs.ago. I only regret I didn't find her sooner!! Girls I hope that you always love God as much as you do this very evening in Roanoke, Va. and most every thing else will work itself out.And one more thing about that poor boy we were talking about back a few lines ago...You'd better pray hard because that's a tall order to fill! Dad

Ah, Vonnie...I feel your pain. Been there, done that! The girls look great! Andrew...you're hilarious. Your fluency in Spanish is proven, once again, by your word "anchelatta" which I assume is supposed to be "enchilada." Please come to Mexico and see us, we need a translator, and you'd be perfect! As to the "perfect man" you describe, he sounds a lot like you! Love and miss you all!

Dad here again, I see the need to expound on a comment that my dear,sweet,spanish-tutor sister-in law shared w/ the whole bless-ed world! What she so grossly misjudged to be an error in my spanish grammer, was INDEED the correct spelling in Yup'ik... my 3rd language that I speak to line out my Eskimo workers on this mission field- St. Mary's, Alaska Oh well, my dear friends and family do keep me humble. Great to have my pretty wife w/ me, along w/ 2/3 of my kid's. Andrew

Wow - this must be Youth Camp Week, then. Jordan's having a blast at Heartland Youth Camp - we're enjoying watching our "little boy" growing up.
Love you all!

I am truly humbled by all the languages my children now speak and know (fluently, or otherwise). You all keep me smiling. And I do love you all. Mom

Oh Andrew cracked me up!!! And his list for that "boy!" Wow, poor guy, whoever he may be. I heard Katie had quite the pick of the litter there (Gram filled me in at camp!). Seems like Lincoln kept everything under control, though.

Maybe you need to fix Andrew some anchelattas for supper next time he comes home to visit!!! :)
