Here are a few happenings from around here this week -
Nick, Drew and his little fish friend, and Grant after their little fishing trip. That's a grayling Drew is holding. He was pretty excited about it. I wish I knew where that thing is right now.....
Heidi with her saxophone. Mrs. Cheri (Brownwood) Weed is starting a band for the kids this year at school. So after much consideration, Heidi chose an alto sax to play, and we rented one from a local music store. She is pretty excited about it. Katie has decided she would like to learn the clarinet and my Mom is letting us have her's. Katie won't be able to play in the band this semester or maybe even this year but she can practice and learn now and then maybe she can play next semester or next year.
And finally, we lit a very huge brush pile Friday. The kids and Andrew played frisbee while it was burning. Everything was all fun and games until the frisbee went in the fire. :) This picture was taken from off of our deck. The kids had so much fun.

That poor frisbee!!! Sounds like you are going to have all kinds of fun coming out of your house with the music practice going on there!!
That's sad about the frisbee, but the fire looks fun! That's hilarious that you don't know where Drew's "fish friend" is right now! I'm sooo excited for Heidi and Katie to learn those instruments...what a GREAT opportunity! (and YES, Noah was outside playing in the water in his church shoes! You are right, all boys are the same! =D)
We love y'all tons,
Heather =)
The alto sax was also Justin's instrument of choice, and I just noticed on Saturday that Sam's Club is now selling them, along with some other instruments. Not bad prices, either. Tell her to keep up the practicing, and Katie, too!! Get yourself a good pair of ear plugs!! :)
I love your news and pictures. Heidi looks so pretty with her sax, but then she's pretty without the sax:-). As for the frisbee...well, I guess they are a dime a dozen and you can always get another one, huh? It is so dry around here that we couldn't start a "little" fire without getting into trouble. We need rain so bad....Love, Mom
That poor frisbee:-D hahaha!! Love the pictures! Did you ever find Drew's fish:-D I hope so:-D Anyhooo...thanx for all the comments! Luv ya'll!!!
OHHH I forgot....tell Katie and Heidi good luck on the instruments!!!
Loved the report of what's going on at your house and the picture of the fire and your yard is gorgeous!
Love you!
Melodie
Sounds like a lot of fun going on. As far as Heidi's choice...I'm kind of hoping at least one of our kiddies chooses the sax as well.
Way to go Heidi! You may have never heard this... but I used to play a Sax too! My family is getting on to me for not STILL playing it. Maybe I'll pick it up again sometime. Playing a Clarinet will be "fun" with your braces Katie, but you'll do fine! I sure do love you all and thanks for the posts, Vonnie, great fishing Grant and Drew too! Love your Aunt Laura
Glad Heidi and Kate are playing an instrument. I picked my clarinet up a few years ago and joined a community orchestra. It took a lot of work to start back but enjoyable. So this is something that can last a lifetime.
Hi! My hubby and I both decided that you all look like a very fun family! (I saw your comment on Lori's site and found your blog that way.) Do you know Duane & Gwen Newton? I think they live in North Pole too. They are good friends of ours and we've been dying to pay them a visit. (It's on the agenda for "some day".) We are huge outdoorsy fans & I've always wanted to live in AK but hubby says he'd get "cold".
Calista
Calista,
Thank you for the nice comment. We do know Dwane and Gwen Newton. As a matter of fact they are our pastor and wife and also my aunt and uncle. Gwen is my Mom's younger sister. Take care!
Hey Vonnie! Love the birthday and camping pictures. I am so behind on blogging/commenting so I read several of your posts in one sitting. Your boys are getting so big!
The place you visited while camping looks so neat & unique and somewhere I'd love to visit.
Like Heather, I am laughing about the "missing fish" and also the runaway frisbee.
